Chris Brown - Don't judge me
Combination music video. Performance and Narrative

This ia performance music video, which is very typical for hip-hop music videos. In this music video, Snoop Dogg continually does the 'crip step' dance move throughout the video. Hip-hop music videos often include dancing. Materiallistic objects are continually shown throughout the video to showcase his status. There is the use of the monochrome effect. The location of the music video is a studio with a white backdrop. This makes it sterile and gives a strong contrast. The whole black and white theme resembles the God father theme, perhaps Snoop Dogg is establishing his status and importance by comparing himself to the Godfather.

Performance music video.

Relationship between lyrics and visual's
The portrayal of women is quite degrading as they are viewed as sex objects throughout the whole music video. Their solem purpose of appearing in the video is for the male gaze which appeals to majority of the target audience as it mainly consists of males. The women are wearing very revealing clothes that emphaises their curves and volumptuous body shapes. The women are also partaking in provocative dancing to once again please the male gaze. The women also take part in making the artist look successful and popular.
Voyeuristic treatment of the female body
Godwin's theory:
Label demands that the artist establishes himself which is done through close-up shots. The label also demands that the artist has a unique selling point, this is done through his costumes and the 'crip step'.
The camera is always on whoever is rapping/singing. The beat and rhythm of the song is always slow and mellow and so are the shots. Although there is a variety of shots, they aren't fast paced as they don't have to keep up with the music. The editing of the video is slow paced. This is done so that the audienc can keep a longer focus on the materialistic object and female dancing. Once again to appeal to a younger audience. Close-up shots on Snoop Dogg to show his importance and hs 'protagonist' role. Dancers on the other hand ge longer shots for voyeuristic purposes. Also to show their irrelevance and lower status as the long shots contrast against the close-ups of the artist's.
