Relationship between lyrics and visual's
Don Broco-Priorities
Combination music video. Performance & Narrative.

The location/setting of the music video is a dark warehouse with bright lights. It sets up a mysterious atmosphere/vibe, which leaves the audience pondering what is going on. The costume in this music videois: At the beginning of the music video when we see the band and 'The mate' planning the crime, they are dressed in dark, smart clothes. However in performing shots, they are dressed in jeans and plain coloured shirts and t-shirts to show the contrast and difference between the two scenes. They are extemely energetic and jumping all over the place, this once again shows the audience how the experience will be if they go and see them perform at a live show. Make-up: When trying to commit the robbery, the band is wearing Richard Nixon masks which American dramas use to portray criminals.
Mise-en-scene
Priorities by Don Broco is a combination music video. It’s a combination of Performance and Narrative, they are both filmed/ set in a big , dark warehouse lit with bright white lights on the walls. The music video show the band and their friend planning a robbery but their friend is more interested in texting his girlfriend. The girlfriend is waiting for the friend with a pizza box in her hand so he leaves to go collect it. The band carries on planning. When they go carry out the robbery, the girlfriend turn up dressed in her police uniform. She’s actually apart of the police and was waiting to catch them in the crime as they’ve committed crimes before and were wanted criminals. She arrests friend first, this shows the relationship was completely fake. Like many indie rock music videos, they took inspiration from films and had a mini film style music video. At the beginning of the music video, they used traditional conventions of American gangster opening sequences to introduce the band. They used still shots with their names in extremely big yellow font. They also used a con artist theme for the opening.
Intersexual reference.
Performance & Narrative
The lengths of each shot are quite short. The video starts with an establishing shot of the warehouse then it cuts to close ups of the band in quick cuts. The narrative then kicks in with an introduction of the band using still shots of them on a red background with big, bold yellow letters displaying their name. The frame holds for a split seconds before more action is shown. The frame introducing ‘the mate’ is the last one and it takes a lot longer to show he is obvious holding them up. Many slow motion shots are used.
Editing
There are many pans and arcs going one shot after the next which feels like there is constant motion happening.
There are a few long shots which show them all together to show us how they act together depending on the situation. It also connotes unity. There are many close-ups and mid shots of the police officers which contrasts with the wide and long shots of the band. It shows how different they are. It also shows how much authority and control she has over the situation.
