AUDIENCE ANALYSIS

I made sure that I asked both males and females so that my analysis wouldn't turn out biased. I also made sure that I asked the same number of people for each gender; 3 females and 3 males.

I asked them which age group they fell in. I made sure to ask people from different age groups so that I could understand which age group I would target my music video. 2 people were over 40 years old, two people were between 31-35, 1 person was aged between 15-20 and 1 person was aged between 21-25. It is obvious that two people feel into late middle aged group, two people feel into the middle aged group and two fell into the young group.

Knowing which age group watches music video is important because it will help me determine who my target audience will be. Two people said that that they watch none, it is most likely the 40+ people as older people don't tend to watch music videos, they much rather watch the news. Two people said once or twice, it is most likely the middle aged people as they are other priorities to commit to . Then one person said five or six and a person said everyday, it is safe to assume that was the younger

Two people said that they don't watch music videos which proves my assumption that the 40+ aren't interested in watching music videos. 2 people said Youtube which is what most young people use. The two people said TV, it is safe to assume it was the over 40.

People had the choice to tick mpre than one box. Three people said POP, as it is a mainstream genre most people will listen to it since it is the that music channels stream the most. Two people said Jazz however there are no new jazz music videos so it is most likely the 40+. One person said R&B, one person said Hip-hop and two people said Indie. Two people said Indie which I assume are the young people.

Majority said yes however there were still two people who said no, I assume that those two people were the 40+ as they picked Jazz as their favourite genre. Jazz doesn't need music videos to promote song. This shows the older generation's state of mind. They don't think that music videos are important and they therefore wouldn't be interested in watching mine. This shows me that I should not target an older generation and that I should target a young one.

The results are balanced which shows that it doesn't really matter. A safe bet would be making a combination music video. However if we don't it won't affect our target audience.

Two people said no and four people said yes. Majority of the people were young to middle aged people so it is safe to say that young people and middle aged people like special effect. This once again let's me know that I shouldn't target an older demographic.

I decided to make a questionnaire to understand why our target audience consists of a young demographic. I made three females and three males of different age groups answer the questionnaire so that the results wouldn't turn out to be biased. There are the results.

I interviewed some fellow students that fit the age category of our target audience. Interviewing them gave me a better insight of what our target audience likes.

To summarise, the results encouraged me to target a young audience because indie music videos with special effects tend to appeal to young people. As our the narrative revolves around a young teenage couple going through hardships, it will appeal to a younger demographic rather an older one. There is a greater chance of young people watching and enjoying our music video than older people.
